Writing Process With Professor Brandon (Notes)

                                                                    Writing Process

  • 1. Prewriting  -Discover what you can say.
                                -Free writing/brainstorming.
           
                                -Research on genre, audience.

                                -Organize what you can and should say.
  •  2. Drafting -Getting your ideas concerning what can and should be said down on paper
.                            -Get ideas out, so they can be manipulated.

                            -Drafts are usually produced in sections and stages.

  •   3.Revision
                -Adding
                -Cutting
                -Reorganize
Your focus is on producing a near final draft that is complete in terms of ideas and form.

  •    4. Proofreading and Editing: Surface Level Detail
                  -Formatting, Spelling, Grammar.
                  -Rereading and at the sentence level all is fine
                  -Presentation

  •   5. Delivering, Publsihsing: -Getting your crafted message in front of your audience.
                                                    -Making sure you can get the message to your audience.
            
                                                    -Accept the delivery

  •   6. Review: -Tweak and Learn about your progress and how to improve it.
                              -Learn what rhetorical moves worked and did not.
